Some will say they never considered anything else, which means there was no choice/preference. For others, there is indeed a choice/preference going on.
Again, we're talking about a spectrum of behavior. It's super easy to tell if somebody is homophobic, so for somebody like you who clearly isn't, I don't care what terminology you use as long as your heart is in the right place. Believe me, there's a clear difference between what you're saying vs how homophobes use terms like 'preference' or 'orientation' as a punchline. I agree with you, and I do sometimes wonder if people can be a bit sensitive to terminology when as you say, their heart is in the right place.Ī couple of years ago I was doing the tech for an older chap presenting a jazz show.
